Selecting the right floor plan to fit your needs is important but you also want to make sure it fit's your lot, as well as the zoning restrictions. It's important to have a good idea as to where you want to build your home before committing to a design.

Living in your new dream home in your imagination is important too. You can't see or feel depth and dimension on paper so if you don't put the time into imagining being in your home it is likely that once your new home is completed there will be things you wish you had done differently. You can reduce or eliminate these items by spending time looking at existing homes similar to what you are dreaming of in person and on the internet.
